Just as I was thinking about committing to a Rolling Stone Magazine subscription, I saw its latest cover. This is their cover story. Subsequently, the tree-conserving in me came out quite fast and I opted for online reading instead.

I now rely on personal recommendations by performers I already like. So, I look at their Myspace pages or pay attention to who they endorse when in concerts.
MTV's too busy with reality shows these days....
I do what Will does. Basically, I stick to what I already know. I don't really tend to like what's on the top of the charts so publications that pander to such things don't have much to offer to me.
But I do like Myspace Music.
Definitely mostly from friends and online reading. Don´t do magazines.
Another teen act and the media buzzing all over it. Enough so to make one not want to bother with the tv anymore.
I still go to indie record stores and ask the nerdy employees what they recommend.
I really like Carrie Bronstein over at Monitor Mix. She knows what's up. Plus, she's an indie reviewer par excellence!
I go to a lot of live shows and often find myself liking the opening acts. Small shows are the best for finding good music.
I used to use Yahoo Music's radio stations, where you could rate music you liked, and then they'd play other music they thought you'd like based on your ratings, and I found a lot of music that way. But now I think they've been bought by Rhapsody.
I had a subscription to RS once, and though I never really discovered any music through it, I did enjoy the articles.
