A Favorite Photo

And this is one of my most favorites.
Confession: the art of photography is almost as important and relevant to me as literature and music. Indeed. And while a photographer I am not, I have learned well to appreciate. By request, I will be regularly posting some of my all-time favorite photos. Some of the pictures come from publications and others from my photographer friends and my own iPhoto collections.
This one is of John Lennon and his son, Sean. The chiaro/scurro contrast is incredible here.

What is chiaro/scurro? I googled and wikipeded to no avail.

Sra,
it's from Italian, it means clear/dark.
It's a tip of the hat to Caravaggio's use of the same method in his paintings.

Thanks for the explanation. I call that contrast, and it is indeed lovely in this photo.

Liam, right.
I have this reoccurring image, for some odd reason, of John on some late night show here in the US. In that show, it was either J. Carson or some such show, and in there John mentioned things that would be oh-so-in-the-spirit of the times in these times.
What a unique performer and even more unique human being.
He would have perhaps written a whole new album these days. If nothing else, he would have sensed a sense of possibility. Thanks for the comment. It allowed me to put to words a high-frequency image.
