I have never understood why concert goers get punished regularly with higher and higher concert/venue fees. A performer has stood up for his fans, however. The Boss took it upon himself to criticize Ticketmaster for overcharging the fans. Bravo, Boss, bravo!
Making a buck is one thing. Making thirty is thirty wrong things.
So, my tip of the hat goes to Bruce Springsteen today.
"The musician condemned Ticketmaster for redirecting fans to another website selling more expensive tickets. Writing on this website, Springsteen said he had asked the company to "immediately" stop the practice. Ticketmaster said it has removed all links and has pledged to refund fans their additional costs for tickets."

It's preposterous that ticketmaster did that. And I'm not surprised. I've been jipped by them, too. But when you love music, you'll go support your artists no matter what. And the really good ones will support you, too.

Yeah, all ticket hawkers are scam artists. I frequently buy through Smith's Tix, and sometimes they offer a cheaper rate for tickets bought in advance of the day of the concert, but once you add in the "service" and "convenience" fees (usually at least 50% of the ticket price), it's still cheaper to take your chances and buy tickets at the door for the regular venue rate. Don't always get in that way, though. I don't mind ticket services adding a reasonable fee, but the fees they tack on are ridiculous.

I do miss services like Smithtix and when I'm out West, I do make use of it. 'Back' East or Midwest-to-East, I have had to use Ticketmaster and it feels too ludicrous a transaction after the tickets are bought. And I agree, those of us who se music for the largest 'text' it represents, are not going to think twice about going after what we like. I most certainly wouldn't and haven't.
